Central Consulting & Contracting and Deluxe Modular Complete Modular MD Joint Venture

(June 22, 2020 – New York City) – Central Consulting & Contracting, Inc. and Deluxe Modular have formed a joint venture, Modular MD, to meet the needs of healthcare providers by bringing innovative and responsible modular construction to healthcare development. Central Consulting’s 35 years of healthcare-focused construction, development, and facility planning will merge proficiencies with Deluxe Modular’s 55 years of delivering adaptive, efficient, large-scale, off-site steel construction. The New York-based companies’ partnership is poised to meet the needs of the rapid changes and increased demand for multifaceted expertise and solutions within this highly specialized sector.

McKinsey & Co. reported in June 2019 that modular industries could save USD 22 billion annually in construction costs in the U.S. and Europe alone, and modular projects have the potential to reduce construction schedules by 20% to 50%. Importantly, modular healthcare construction affords hospitals the ability to expand facilities without interrupting current operations.

“Healthcare-medical development is at a critical inflection point, underscored by the global need for flexible and efficient healthcare space solutions which the pandemic has brought to light,” said Richard Simone, Central Consulting & Contracting CEO and President. “Modular MD was formed with the unique ability to deliver responsible design and development and provide swift, nimble, long-term, cost-saving options to fit the need for medical facilities anywhere in the world.”

Modular MD embraces the power of various progressive technology-driven methodologies, including programmatic, state-of-the-art Building Information Modeling (BIM). These digital systems standardize design, automate structural engineering, and deliver precise manufacturing and rapid on-site assembly. Modular MD’s process mitigates risk, eliminates inefficiencies, expedites delivery time, provides cost savings, improves quality, and reduces waste. Ultimately, the results not currently seen in healthcare development will fast track the entire sector and achieve better outcomes through a singular streamline thread providing an increased ROI across the development, construction, and operating value chain.

“Due to rising concern regarding construction job site safety and social distancing guidelines combined with the need for reduced costs and construction times, the demand for modular products continues to grow,” said Ray Onofrio, Deluxe Modular Chief Operating Officer. “Modular MD’s medical facility solutions are designed by healthcare professionals for healthcare professionals and are adaptable for any foreseeable circumstance. By leveraging the joint expertise represented within Central Consulting and Deluxe Modular, we look forward to expanding our capacity to build, deliver, and assemble quality products at a fraction of the cost and time when healthcare systems need dependable service the most.”

The global modular construction market is forecasted to grow at a CAGR of 6.4% to reach USD 191.62 billion by 2027 (up from USD 119.96 billion in 2019), according to Reports and Data research released in May 2020.

The anticipated growth is attributed to increasing investments in the development of commercial and healthcare infrastructure, among other factors.

The Central Consulting team includes healthcare professionals with more than 45 years of experience in healthcare design and construction as well as members who have worked with US-AID and Baylor College of Medicine on the very first mobile medical units that were used to fight the Ebola outbreak of Western Africa in 2014. Recently, Central Consulting expanded its strategic alliance with New York-based Plaza Construction to provide construction services to healthcare systems throughout the United States’ Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Florida regions on a no/reduced-fee basis for projects related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Modular MD’s prefabricated structures are produced at Deluxe Modular’s 22-acre campus in Pennsylvania with over 500,000 square feet of manufacturing facilities, approved with the executive order to work through COVID-19 shutdowns. Deluxe Modular plans to expand production capacity through the addition of two new factories which are expected to open by the end of 2020.
